I am a scholar of modern Jewish history specializing in East Europrean Jewry and its diaspora communities. In my research, I develops an interdisciplinary approach to processes of religious and social change with a focus on mass media and popular culture. My areas of expertise include nineteenth- and twentieth-century occultism, East European Jewish history, modern Jewish religious and political thought, Yiddish press and culture, and the life and works of Hillel Zeitlin.
